100% soy wax, as Wisco Home Goods describes its candles. Hand poured in small batches in Madison, Wisconsin, and their label stays on the candle. Wisco's own care notes: on the first burn, let the wax melt all the way to the edge of the jar, which takes two to three hours. Trim the wick to 1/4 inch before each lighting. Burn it no more than four hours at a time, and let the wax cool completely before relighting or moving the jar. One rule of ours on top: never leave a lit candle unattended, or where a child or pet can reach it.
Ten ounce: about 3-3/8" wide by 4-1/4" tall, with a burn time of roughly 57 hours, as Wisco lists its ten ounce candles. Three ounce: the small size of the same pour; Wisco does not publish its dimensions, so we will not guess at them.

The Story
There is a difference between a candle that scents a room and a candle that announces itself from the hallway. This is the first kind. Soy wax throws its scent gently rather than shouting it, which is what you want in a room you actually sit in.
They are poured by hand in Madison, in batches small enough that the person pouring them knows how many there are. Not a fragrance house. Not a contract filler in another state with somebody else's label stuck on the front. A small shop on Madison's east side, and the label on the candle is theirs.

The Maker

Jeremy is the owner and creator of Wisco Home Goods in Madison. He started pouring candles in his kitchen back in 2017, and by 2023 he opened a shop on Madison's picturesque east side, a spot he lovingly calls the best-smelling shop in town. Every candle is hand-poured in small batches using 100% soy wax, carrying names inspired by the local seasons and landscapes like Afternoon Hike and Winter Woodlands. He is also building out a house line called Aura No. 9, expanding past candles into bar soap, liquid hand soap, room spray, and laundry detergent. For anyone wanting to make their own candles, he also sells complete DIY candle-making kits. His logo features a stylized aerial view of the Wisconsin State Capitol building, a subtle nod to the place that anchors his work.
