The Story
Look at a climber's hands and you can read the season. Tape on the ring finger where a pulley complained. Calluses filed flat on Sunday night. A split tip that never quite closes before the next session.
A machine can solve a route on paper. It cannot feel a sloper go greasy in August, take the fall, and come back next Saturday anyway.
So here are two hands, held open, palms up. Hard hands in a soft moment. Under them, the plain fact, in letters that look chalked and rubbed back.
The hands were drawn with a machine's help. We think that is fair: drawing is not climbing.
